Overview

Job Summary: 

A Payroll Clerk/Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for weekly processing of company payroll, data entry into payroll system(s), verification and reconciliation of employee timecards. This role requires individuals to be detail oriented, create and deliver reports, answer employee payroll inquiries, and other related payroll, administrative and clerical duties as determined by the Payroll Manager.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:  

Including but not limited to the list below. 

  • Monitor employee paper timecards & timecard data in electronic reporting system and correct when necessary.  
  • Maintain confidential personnel files and payroll records. 
  • Communicate information to other company locations as needed. 
  • Verify employee tax status as needed as well as any information about withholdings. 
  • Answering inquiries from employees, vendors, etc.  
  • Change employee banking records when necessary, to process direct deposit payments accurately. 
  • Record employee complaints, questions and concerns about payroll services and communicate those issues to Payroll Manager. 
  • Maintain best practices, policies and procedures for processing payroll. 
  • Drafts, transmits, and files correspondence. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors. 

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma required.  
  • Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.). 
  • Prior experience in commercial construction is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels from a client, management, to employees and sub-contractors. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize and correct discrepancies. 
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; can establish priorities and an effective course of action. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as being able to work independently. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. 
  • Utilize Viewpoint, Bid2Win, etc. 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to sit, type, and perform computer work for extended periods of time. 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer entry. 
  • Able to talk, hear, stand, and walk. 
  • Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
